FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPORTIME Pickleball Opens New Best-in-Class Facilities in Wayne, New Jersey and Yorktown Heights, New York
Facilities offer access, innovation, diverse programming and community engagement to set the standard for America’s fastest-growing sport - Grand Openings Scheduled for Early September
NEW YORK, NY — AUGUST 11, 2025 — SPORTIME Pickleball, a division of SPORTIME Clubs, is riding its next wave of growth this September with back-to-back facility grand openings in Wayne, NJ, and Yorktown Heights, NY. These new facilities, with more to come, and following the opening of SPORTIME Pickleball clubs in Westbury, NY and Englewood, NJ, this past spring, are part of the company’s plan to develop and operate 200 dedicated pickleball courts across the tri-state area by 2030, and to be the Northeast’s premier pickleball club destination.
All About the Courts
SPORTIME Pickleball Wayne will open the weekend of September 6–7 as the largest dedicated pickleball club in northern New Jersey. The facility, designed to be a destination site for competitive and social events, as well as a local pickleball hub, features 18 indoor, cushioned, climate-controlled courts, including a stadium court, multiple player lounges, private event spaces, a dinking wall, and uniquely spacious and well-oriented viewing and social areas.
Just one week later, on September 13–14, SPORTIME Pickleball Yorktown Heights will open its doors. This expansive and conveniently located Westchester County facility will offer 12, state-of-the-art, cushioned, climate-controlled courts, courtside viewing, players lounges, locker rooms and showers, two private party rooms, and a full suite of programming for players of all ages and levels.
Both locations are planning opening day festivities, including facility tours and introductory open play sessions, pro shop specials on paddles and gear, raffle prizes, photo ops, and more. Online registration for opening weekend events will open 30 days prior to the scheduled dates. The first wave of players will have the opportunity to sign-up for a free, introductory, SPORTIME Pickleball membership at both locations, including a host of complimentary benefits and premium access through October 31.
SPORTIME Pickleball – The Industry Gold Standard
“Our goal with SPORTIME Pickleball is to build more than just the best courts and playing environments in our markets, though we are doing that for sure – but we are also building places that become vital parts of the communities that we serve,” said Claude Okin, President & CEO of SPORTIME. “As we continue to open new pickleball facilities across our markets, and in new ones, our goal is to create vibrant, welcoming clubs, where families can play together, where neighbors can connect, and where everyone feels supported and inspired to fall in love with the game.”
SPORTIME Pickleball’s expanded footprint will offer players reciprocal access to 30 courts in northern New Jersey (Wayne and Englewood). With the September opening of SPORTIME Pickleball Yorktown Heights, and the planned launch of its new Armonk facility later this fall, players will also have reciprocal access to 23 courts across Westchester County. While non-members are welcome to enjoy drop-in play and programs, and court-time reservations at non-discounted rates, SPORTIME Pickleball’s $20/month membership is one of the most accessible in the industry, and unlocks discounted member-only program and court-rental fees, advanced booking privileges, and multi-club access, all without requiring players to commit to long-term contracts.
Through platinum partnerships with JOOLA, Diadem, and Selkirk, SPORTIME Pickleball also integrates world-class equipment into every aspect of the playing experience -ensuring that players have access to cutting-edge paddle technology, training tools, and exclusive offers.
“Our facilities, amenities, and equipment set the gold standard in the industry,” noted Joe Siegel, SPORTIME Pickleball’s Managing Director. “We’ve combined world-class infrastructure with the best coaches, the best programming, and the best gear in the game.”
Meeting the Moment: A Sport on the Rise
SPORTIME Pickleball’s rapid expansion is coming at a pivotal moment for the sport, with 19.8 million Americans playing pickleball, representing a 311% increase over the past three years. SPORTIME is meeting this moment by opening exceptional facilities and curating playing and learning experiences designed for newcomers and seasoned players alike. All SPORTIME Pickleball locations offer level-based supervised open play, social events, competitive leagues, and private instruction led by pro-level coaches. Siegel notes, “We are always striving to provide exceptional and innovative facilities and to create a vibrant community of players who all share the same passion for the game.”
SPORTIME’s “everybody in the game” approach aligns with the explosion of interest in the sport. Pickleball has enjoyed five consecutive years of growth, attracting new players across all generations; the average pickleball player’s age is 34.8 years old, and the 25-34 age group is the largest demographic in the sport. In 2025 alone, one million children began playing.
“Pickleball is not just a fad or a trend; it’s a sport that builds connection as much as it builds skill,” said Brenda DiDonna, SPORTIME’s Global Sports Administrator. “SPORTIME Pickleball is leading the charge with the unmatched quality of our facilities, elite coaching, and a commitment to community. What we offer is the best the industry has to offer.”
Commercial Real Estate Boom
Pickleball is also reshaping the commercial real estate landscape by:
- Bringing needed vitality to sometimes vacant space;
- Serving as a high-demand amenity that promotes onsite spending;
- Offering an innovative adaptive reuse of commercial spaces, with a heightened emphasis on sustainability
“Pickleball is a win for commercial spaces,” said Daren Hornig, Head of Real Estate at SPORTIME Pickleball. “It is proving to be a high-impact financial driver for commercial real estate, transforming dormant assets into thriving destinations and delivering meaningful revenue and investment upside that benefits both the local communities and governments.”
